Wednesday 6th April
We have finally made it to Leeds and are moored in Clarence Dock. It is ok here right next to the Royal Armouries Museum on pontoons with water supply and electric (although there is some doubt about the electric at this time) but being in the city there is a distinct lack of grass for the dogs to go on! However, that apart, it is safe and not unattractive.
Millions must have been spent on the redevelopment here and there are a miriad of shops with apartments over the top. Unfortunately nearly all the shops are closed though. A cookware shop, Pizza Express and Tesco Express and a few pretentious looking restaurants seem to be the only survivors. I assume that because of the distance from here to the city centre (about 15 minutes walk) not many people bother to come here other than to go to the museum.
We had a walk into the city centre this afternoon and had a cursory look round. Tomorrow we will do a better job. Hopefully we will be able to find one of the 5 Wetherspoon’s, all of which eluded us today!
